Abstract:
In order to understand the species and quantity of nekton eggs and larvae in the core area of Daya Bay, a quantitative sampling survey was conducted in May and October 2020 in three areas (27 stations) where the distribution of nekton eggs and larvae was relatively dense. A total of 1 660 nekton eggs and larvae were collected in May. A total of 84 species were identified by COI analysis, belonging to 4 phyla, 11 orders, 48 families and 64 genera, including 60 species of fish, 9 species of shrimp, 12 species of crab and 1 species of mollusk. A total of 1580 eggs and larvae were collected in October. A total of 62 species were identified by COI analysis, belonging to 2 phyla, 11 orders, 40 families and 53 genera. There were 47 species of fish, 10 species of shrimps, 4 species of crabs and 1 species of mantis shrimps. Compare to historical data, our results demonstrate that being a powerful complement to traditional morphology, DNA barcoding is an accurate, standardized, and efficient tool for species identification, and possesses a broad prospect of application in fish biodiversity research
